Vehicles may be booked by category only. Unless availability of a specific model has been formally confirmed, Arnold Clark only guarantees the category reserved. Not all car groups and models may be available at all Arnold Clark locations.
Some branches may request a security deposit of up to £150 (£500 for executive cars and £1,000 for luxury cars). Deposits are payable in branch via credit or debit card.
No, most pre-paid cards are blocked if you try to use them for car rental. We accept most major credit and debit cards including Mastercard, Visa Credit, and Visa Debit. Payment can also be made via PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. You must present a physical, valid credit or debit card in your own name when collecting your vehicle.
No, please contact us on rental.reservations@arnoldclark.com or call us on 0141 849 7170 if you would like to amend or cancel your booking. When getting in touch, please let us know your booking reference number, so that we can locate your reservation quickly.
It's free to cancel your booking if you give us more than 72 hour's notice before your scheduled pick-up time. If you cancel within 72 hours of your scheduled pick-up time, you will incur a £50 cancellation fee, or no refund when the rental cost is less than £50.
A refund guarantee is available to purchase, which allows you to cancel your booking at any time, including up to the start of your hire and receive a full refund, less the £10 refund guarantee fee.
The exchange rate will be taken on the day of the refund and not from the day of booking. Unfortunately, we can't refund any shortfall in exchange rate changes.
Refunds will be returned to your original payment method within 3-5 working days.

We accept utility bills, bank or credit card statements that have been issued within the last 3 months. Digital copies are accepted, including documents shown on a mobile device.
Drivers aged 21 and 22 can hire provided that they have held a full, valid licence for 4 years and have no points or convictions. Drivers aged 21 and 22 can hire vehicles up to a medium automatic car or medium van.
There is no upper age limit for renting, however, certain group restrictions may apply. Please contact us for details.
No, we are unable to accept digital driving licences. You must present either a physical copy or an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your passport.

If you cannot provide the DVLA Share Your Licence code, we can contact the DVLA to authorise the rental when you arrive at the branch. There is a small charge for this service, and it is only available during the DVLA's opening hours (not available on bank holidays).

Outside the UK, customers can only take a rental car to The Republic of Ireland. Travel is not permitted to any other European country.
Cars (including nine-seaters) can only be taken with prior arrangement, and customers must give at least one week's notice to allow the branch to arrange the correct paperwork (additional charges will apply).
Vans are not permitted to be taken beyond the UK mainland.
When travelling to The Republic of Ireland, customers are responsible for travel insurance costs of their passengers and must arrange their own European breakdown cover (including repatriation) for the vehicle. This must be presented to the branch before the start of the hire.
Regulations for driving vehicles abroad are often changing. Drivers are responsible for ensuring that they comply with all local laws and requirements, including any mandatory travel kits. The AA have some great information on driving abroad, including documents to carry. For more information on driving in other EU countries, visit the AA website.
Yes, you can take rental vehicles to Scottish Islands, Isle of Wight, Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney and the Isle of Man without additional written permission to do so.
Please note that if there are weather issues, ferry delays or if customers are unable to get back to the mainland when planned, customers will be charged for vehicle extensions to the hire when the vehicle is returned to us. Customers may also experience longer response times for breakdown.
Yes. Just add the refund guarantee when you make your booking, and we'll refund you if you need to cancel.
Yes. The refund guarantee can be purchased at checkout for hourly hires.
Unfortunately, our refund guarantee is not available when renting a dual control vehicle.
Additional drivers are required to bring their physical driving licence and their access code from the DVLA, which you can acquire from the DVLA's online Share Driving Licence system.
No, we do not offer driving lessons. However, we do offer dual control vehicles. Find out more.

Not all of our branches have on-site parking. Please call the branch before your arrival to confirm.
Rentals can start at any time during our opening hours and are based on a 24-hour period.
Out-of-hours returns are only permitted at certain airport locations with prior arrangement (charges apply). Hires to and from all other locations must be returned during our normal hours of business, so that the vehicle can be inspected by a member of the rental team.
If possible, please let us know as soon as you are aware that your flight has been delayed. If you arrive after our office has closed, please make your way to your accommodation and call us the following morning. We will arrange to collect you and bring you to our office to complete the paperwork.

No. The only vehicle you can hire to sit your driving test is a dual control car. Find out more about renting a dual control car.
No. Our insurance will not cover any vehicles used for the purpose of Hire and Reward.
